Trainee Buyer / Estimator

O’Brien Contractors are looking for a Trainee Buyer / Estimator to join our team at our head office in  Leamington Spa to provide buying and estimating administrative support to the business, working under the guidance of an experienced Estimator / Buyer,

Main Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assist the Estimating Manager with sourcing and purchasing of all materials for projects.
  • Assist the Estimating Manager with accurate pricing of tender projects.
  • Analyse quotations for both material and subcontractor.
  • Negotiate with new and existing suppliers on material prices.
  • Collate buying documents for the operational and maintenance manuals.
  • Ability to interpret customer requirements from construction industry drawings and text.
  • Undertake other duties as may reasonably be required and which are commensurate with the post-holder’s skills and experience.
Requirements
  • Essential:  GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths
  • Desirable:  OND Minimum – HNC / Construction related course
  • Essential:  Proficient in use of MS Office software packages
  • Desirable:  Construction experience in similar role
Salary Range:
  • £17,000 – £22,000 dependent on experience
  • Ideally the candidate will be local to the head office in Cubbington, Leamington Spa

Business Support Administrator

JOB PURPOSE
  • Facilitate organisation, communication, and provision of support services within the business
  • Lead on HR administration, including staff development and training
  • Assist in development and promotion of effective, efficient working methods and processes
KEY RELATIONSHIPS

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  • Lead on HR related activities for company staff in line with agreed procedures, including (but not limited to):
    • Managing relevant documentation and records (e.g. personnel, training, holiday and absence), ensuring these are maintained and updated in line with agreed procedures and legislation
    • Processing new starters and leavers
    • Maintenance of HR records
    • Co-ordinating and arranging training, including apprenticeships, work experience and placements
    • Managing occupational health surveillance arrangements
    • Dealing with HR enquiries and provision of general advice
  • Manage day-to-day training, identify suitable providers, administer training programmes, and maintain comprehensive and accurate
  • Assist in management of contracts for the provision, use and maintenance of information technology systems and services e.g. IT, office telephone, mobile phones, site
  • Manage contracts relating to site consumables, PPE, signage and assist in the purchase of the same.
  • Assist in the administration of budgets relating to their
  • Actively assist in developing and implementing efficient, effective management systems, taking an active role in associated projects, and communicating these across the business.
  • Provide administrative support to the business (including greeting visitors and callers, filing, typing, document collation) under the direction of the Business Support
  • Work in accordance with agreed company policies and procedures, and assist in their
  • Contribute to team effort and support other members of the Business Support team in delivering their roles when required.
