Directors Statement

I’ve seen our business go through some significant changes throughout my 40 years of experience managing the business, however one thing has always remained constant – our unstinting commitment to our customers. The needs of our clients have always been at the heart of our achievements: from the expansion of our services and development of new and exciting products, through to training our staff to be the best in the industry. Everything we do has the customer in mind and that’s why we can proudly say that 85% of our contracts are generated from repeat business.

This customer-centric philosophy has never been more important than now. The industry is going through some tough times and many companies have been tightening their belts, we will continue to invest. In line with the overwhelming feedback that we have received from our clients, we’ve implemented unprecedented diversification strategies that have seen us expand to offer a wealth of services, ranging from major Civil Engineering and Construction projects through to the provision of Olympic-standard sports facilities.

I’m committed to ensuring that alongside our commercial aims we also prioritise being good corporate citizens and these values run throughout the company, in our people, procedures and attitudes. We take our responsibilities to the environment, our employees and the communities we work in very seriously. Over the past few years we have introduced a record number of initiatives to ensure that our business is as sustainable as possible and we also play a key role in helping our clients meet their own sustainability commitments – and take pride in doing so.

We continue to invest heavily in training at every level of the company, from apprentices through to directors, to ensure that our team is the best in the industry. I can honestly say that the team we have in place today is the strongest we’ve ever had, and that is something I’m very proud of.

We’ve come a long way since 1958. Back then our largest contracts were in the region of a few hundred pounds, whereas these days they’re in excess of £10 million. We will continue to grow and offer our clients an even stronger experience in the years to come. This is just the beginning and I look forward to the future with great excitement.
