Urban Splash Port Loop, Phase 3b

O’Brien are currently carrying out our 3rd contract for Urban Splash at Port Loop the multi award winning development in Birmingham. Port Loop is one of the largest residential regeneration sites in the region and involves the redevelopment of 43 acres of land which will deliver 1,150 homes on former industrial brownfield land.

The development is circled by a historic canal and is just 15 minutes from the city centre, with a wonderful growing inclusive community as well as providing the first public green space in Birmingham for over a decade.

Appointed as Works Contractor following a competitive tender exercise, on Phase 3b, we are delivering civils works for 78 new modular houses, estate roads, drainage, street lighting, services, as well as hard and soft landscaping. 

This follows on from our previous two contracts completed for Urban Splash on the Port Loop development, where we have delivered civils works for a total of 70 homes comprising 7 no terraces with 10 modular houses in each terrace.

We commenced works in September 2021 for 47 weeks and we will be carrying out operations in 3 Phases.  At the beginning of May 2022, having completed civils and services works for the house foundations on the first phase, we were ready for the installation of the first of the factory built modular houses by ‘House by Urban Splash.’

The works we are responsible for include the following;

  • A stoned piling mat for each terrace.
  • Reinforced ground beams and pile caps.
  • Services installed along with the foul and storm water drainage systems.
  • New foul and storm water system, 2 attenuation tanks
  • Hard and soft landscaping works for private gardens, communal courtyards, public
  • realm streetscape and public open space.
  • Flexible tarmac estate roads

Collaboration and clear communication with other stakeholders, as well as the growing community on Port Loop, is paramount to our successful delivery of the works as we deliver each plot ready for installation of the modular home.
