To cement its place alongside other Premier League clubs and work towards achieving Category 1 for its Academy, Brentford F.C. needed brand new facilities at its training ground in Hounslow, including three new pitches, fencing, and access for emergency vehicles.

Collaborating closely with Ardent Sports, OBI Designs and Premier Turfing Ltd we worked to bring the facilities up to Premier League academy standards.
During phase one of the £30 million investment into the club’s facilities, we created three 105m x 68m full-sized pitches, all complete with high-tech equipment essential for a winning squad, including state-of-the-art LED lighting lamps and performance monitoring cameras.
The three new pitches consisted of one Country Turf HERO hybrid, one FIFA quality-approved artificial turf and one natural turf, boosting Brentford F.C. to secure Category 1 for its Academy training facilities.
Hybrid grass technology has been used for some time, but we wanted to provide the team with a pitch surface that was fit for league champions. HERO Hybrid Grass is a unique substitute to traditional turf systems offering the highest-level of artificial grass fibres per square metre of natural grass, creating a playing surface that can withstand heavy footfall.
More than just a pitch
The overhaul of Brentford F.C’s. training facilities is a top-scoring project which aims to elevate the club’s category status from level 2 to level 1. It’s not just the club which is set to benefit from this project. The facilities will unlock much needed space for the community to enjoy various activities including youth team training sessions, talking therapies and an initiative working to improve cardiac health.

Early in the project, the design team recognised that each pitch had unique watering needs. To cater for this, pop-up sprinkler and water cannon technology was installed to give each pitch bespoke irrigation, ensuring longevity of the surfaces.
