Part of a £10 million project by Osborne, the four-storey car park consists of 5,400m2 of reinforced ground floor slab and three upper floors of 12,200m2 reinforced structural topping. Earthworks, foundations, drainage and external works were all carried out by O’Brien.
The location, a brownfield site containing hazardous material and adjacent to a live railway station, were considerable challenges faced by the project team.
The construction of a link bridge between the second storey of the car park and the existing train station required night time working.
O’Brien’s value engineering proposals allowed the client a 7% saving of the overall contract value.
