We secured the contract to carry out all of the sub structure and drainage works for Interserve’s new head office in Solihull.
The works consisted of a reinforced concrete capping beam, storm and foul drainage systems, reinforced pile caps and beams, reinforced concrete walls and upstands, and reinforced basement slabs.
When excavating the foundations and drainage, a high water table was encountered, the areas of deep excavation had to be dewatered using a wellpoint system.
The drainage consisted of 450m of storm drainage, including 1500 diameter Tubosider attenuation pipes, and 2 interceptors. 500m of foul drainage was also installed, including a grease interceptor.
1400m³ of concrete was used in the foundations, ranging from 1m³ in small pile caps to 120m³ in each of the 3 stair and lift cores. 220 linear metres of reinforced concrete retaining wall structures were also constructed.
