As part of Enfield Council’s strategy to improve the environment throughout the local area, O’Brien Contractors secured a contract with sports turf construction and drainage firm, Turfdry to undertake a river restoration scheme for Enfield Council.
- Client: Turfdry
- Project: River Restoration Scheme at Firs Farm Playing Fields
- Location: Enfield
- Sector: Leisure
The works involved the excavation of a watercourse stretching between the north-west and north-east corners of Firs Farm Playing Fields to carry the water, which for the last 50 years had been diverted into an underground culvert. The playing fields were primarily made up of football, small sided football and rugby pitches.
The material excavated during the creation of the watercourse was used to construct a bund along the boundary of the park to offer flood protection.
We secured the contract through our investment in cutting edge surveying equipment and state-of-the-art excavators and bulldozers; equipped with GPS control systems.
This technology was pivotal in carrying out the works and ensuring our expert operators delivered the design to the exact client specifications.
