Birmingham is being rebuilt and regenerated and we’re excited to be working with our partners to help make it a better place to work, live and play.

As the second largest city in the UK, Birmingham is starting to go places again. It has a long history of being a place filled with forward thinkers and innovators and recently the regeneration investment in the city is bringing back that mind set.

In the past it was famous for jewellery and heavy industry but now it’s the creative industries, education, tourism, arts and retail that are driving the city forward and bringing it back to its glory days. Recently, the BBC reported that office construction in Birmingham is the highest it’s been in 13 years. New hotels are springing up and old ones are being refurbished; students are flocking to the city to study and staying in smart new student villages, some of which we’re proud to have built; and the retail sector is seeing huge ongoing investment.

Infrastructure and transport is also being improved and with the lower costs compared to London, it’s fast becoming the place that businesses are looking to invest in and people are looking to move to. We’re delighted and proud that we’re playing a part in bringing this wonderful city back to life.

Working with Morgan Sindall, we’ve helped to deliver the second phase of the Longbridge project, which features the Midlands’ largest Marks & Spencer store at 150,000 sq ft, a six floor multi-storey and 500 space car park and an additional 45,000sq ft of retail, restaurant and café space. Through early contractor involvement, we provided efficiency and costs savings to the programme of works, with the end result being that the development opened 6 weeks ahead of the agreed schedule date.

Other projects in the city that we’ve helped deliver include:

With the construction sector looking healthy and confidence in Birmingham’s prospects booming, we’re looking forward to working with more partners to bring more quality construction to the city. And seeing as it’s just been revealed as the third best city in the UK to work in, we reckon it’s going to need it!
